i saw marc bamuthi joseph’s show at the dance theater workshop, Word Becomes Flesh. too bad that by the time most of you read this, his show will have ended its run. an incredible fusion of dance, music and poetry done with marvelous stage technique and presence. the best part of bamuthi’s show is the fact that it sounded like there were five different performers doing his poetry. he had a variety of cadences and rhythms to his work that is sorely lacking in many performers (myself included). if there was a weak point, i would say that his dance did not have the same multi-faceted edge but i am no expert when it comes to the movement department. it’s good to see that there are performers taking it to the next level with their poems.
otherwise, love ya like cheesecake on graham cracker crust…
