Run! Don’t Walk! Reviewing Batman Begins

*** Spoiler Free Review of Batman ***
simply put, “Batman Begins” is the best batman movie ever, one of the top 10 superhero movies in history and the best film i think i’ve seen this year.

its not perfect – the whole romance angle can be easily trashed – but the level of detail that is brought to this film shows what happens when you actually (Lucas can you hear me?) invest in fine screen writing.

Christian Bale also distinguishes himself as the truest incarnation of Bruce Wayne yet. he almost gets this award by default as the previous films focused more on the cowl than the man but he still rocks out as the billionaire playboy/dark knight.

unlike some folks, i still dig the Tim Burton bat-films and considered them both the high standard. “Batman” for the creation of a modern grand dystopic Gotham City (which the comics immediately emulated), Jack Nicholson immitable portrayal of the Joker and the fact that Burton went right for the dark knight angle as opposed to the PG batman that bored audiences everywhere. “Batman Returns” rocked thanks to the actual romantic chemistry between Michael Keaton and Michelle Phiefer – both as their masked personas and their civilian alter egos.

back to the present- fine supporting cast, great believable CGI, a villian worthy of our heroes current (and future?) status, slick writing and a killer batmobile. what more ya want?
